I am very disappointed in Dell.
I have always loved Dell products. I have purchased them for years but My recent experiences have been terrible.
A few months ago, I purchased a Dell XPS 8900 desktop (Intel Gen 6 Skylake Quad-Core i7-6700 processor 3.4GHz, 8gb DDR4 2133MHz RAM, 1TB HDD 7200RPM, NVIDIA GeForce 730 2GB. I bought this because I need a computer with some power.
Out of the box It had problems booting up and USB ports did not work. I returned It to Amazon. I bought another one and this time It not only had problems booting up but the DVD player didn't work. I returned it. but I wanted 2016 Dell Inspiron 17.3' Laptop, 6th Gen Intel Skylake Core i7-6500U up to 3.1GHz, full HD (1920x1080) Display, 8gb RAM, AMD Radeon R5 Graphics.
In three weeks I have spent over $200 on tech Support trying to get the machine to function at least as Well and the 9 year old Dell I keep for emergencies which still functions perfectly but is very limited in its capabilities.
So I am here this weekend unable to finish two projects that must be completed by Monday.

I stumbled upon this machine by searching whether Amazon still had any remaining machines with the Win7 OS. I could hardly believe My eyes when I read that this Laptop also has precisely the screen size, CPU, screen resolution and RAM that I wanted, plus a very acceptable Graphics card.
Here are some of the other features that make this a fabulous machine:
--easily removable battery (convenient to remove for those of Us who rarely run our laptops from the battery)
--back-lit keyboard (I hit the Caps Lock key to cause It to light up before striking the desired key)
--because I bought 2 machines for a fabulous price, I always have 2 batteries available for those rare instances when I need to run on battery power for a prolonged period of time
--although It has only one USB3.0 port, which means It can accommodate only one of My USB3.0 external HDDs, when I back this Drive up to the one at the USB2.0 port, the transfer rate seems very adequate
--although I get only 2 hours from 100% charged down to 20% charge (the lowest I like to go), I'm okay with it, as that is with one and the same apps, peripherals and settings that I use when on AC power:
----screen maximum brightness
----two external HDDs that I backup every minute or so
----my backup program
----my USB2.0 Trackball with software
----my security program
----one or two browsers, each with multiple tabs open
----my Word processing program
Re the Blue screen of Death that others mention, I've seen that only twice since may -- and in both cases I was able to restart normally without making any changes
In summary, Im exceedingly happy with the 2 machines that I purchased from Southwest Electronics Inc. in may of 2017
